arriving in cape town and the first days here

finally we found time to post after a busy week working.......

markus was here already one week when he picked me up on tuesday. i arrived after 23 hours of travelling at 5 am at the cape town int. airport, where markus brought me to his friends appartement, from the airport to the center you always cross a huge township (2million persons) and capetown has 3,2million means that 1,2 are in the center and the suburbs.........

as markus arranged already all day appointments we just went home to drop off my stuff and started to seach for cars and homes... which was kind of difficult... just some funny examples...:

we where testing cars without breakes...., a car which doors where looking and opening all the time while driving, or cars that even didnt not run....(africa is just different and we have to get used to it.....)

with the housing it was quite easy as markus already checked like 20 different appartements during the week before...

so we just went to his favourite house ( 90 sqm, big kitchen, swimming pool, 3 bedrooms,adsl, wlan, dstv (payed tv), funny owner (maybe smokeing pot;)....) where we would stay for the next couple of months.........(at this momment we stayed in a house of a friend of him)

africa africa africa...

we got so angry as we had problem to get 4000 euros from our account in austria...fist we had to find the main bank cause the others didnt have that big amount!!!! so when we arrived there they started to call the bank back there, once confirmed they started with the paper work which took us again lot of time after that they started to count the money cause 4000 euros here are (approx. 39000 rand) and they just have mainly 100er notes.

so we felt like we just took 50.000 euros and started walking on the streets with a mixed feeling but we made it to the cardealer without getting robbed;) so it took us like 1,5 hours to get the money really crazy
(but we spend the day lots of hours to call the bank back home to tell them that they can let them transfer the money to africa...i even got a call if i am in africa cause someone is trying to get money with my visa....)

another funny thing is our new office in our house....as the tabels are quite expensive we went to an secound hand shop and bought 3 doors which we will paint and put on sth. so that they become tables;) we will post soon pics of it.

so finaly after a busy week we have a house, an office and a car:)

next to our house there is a small football stadium and a few days ago we just took a break from work and when there for a few min cause there was a game....
as soon as we approached the south africans already came to talk to us...at the beginning with how r u and where are u from and after a few min they(kids between 12-16) already offered us everything and wanted our drinks and asked for money...in the end they told us that we where the fist white persons they spoke to.....

sometimes it is really scary and i feel like in gta san andreas (ps2 and pc game) some of the neigbourhoods look like that....sometimes i am really scared but as soon as it gets dark (already at 6 cause it is winter here) we move back home and stay in the house....

today we will go out the fist time and lets see if they can party like it´s there bithday;) really excited how it will be.....

weather...till today it was sunny and we had max 22. during the day and at night it gets very cold...close to 0:(

ok so far so go we have to go back working but you hear from us soon......
